Greek gods and Roman gods
The Roman mythology is based on the Greek mythology, the most important books of the Greek mythology are the Iliad and the Odyssey, they were written by Homer. The Iliad relates the war between Greece and Troy and the Odyssey talks about the adventures of Odysseus trying to come back to Ithaca.
The Romans took the Greek gods and changed their names to their language, the Latin; these are the most important Greek gods and their names in Latin: Zeus has the Latin name of Jupiter and his lover Era receives the name of Juno. Poseidon, the gods of the sea, the Romans call him Neptune.

Ares, the God of war, was named as Mars, Aphrodite the goddess of beauty in Roman mythology is Venus and Hades the ruler of the underworld the Romans gave him the name of Pluto. Finally Baco the god of wine and parties is named in Latin as Dionysius.
